Corruption is similar to prostitution. The only difference is that in the latter case the women selling their bodies can justify their behavior alleging the materially-minded necessity to survive and feed their children. But officials, especially “big shots”, selling their official posts or, to put it mildly, involved in illegal activity, have much more “lofty” needs as all kinds of Mercedes and jeep cars, luxury apartments and villas, bank accounts in offshore zones or their own semi-legal business and fabulous privileges which Soviet bureaucrats of the highest rank did not even dream about. And although the size of bureaucrats’ appetite is directly proportional to the status in the scale of ranks of authority, any corrupt official is in a way if not a political, but a state prostitute who unlike a usual one has much more exclusive and notable position. But the essence remains to be as it is.
