Fund of Struggle Against Corruption Azerbaijan
Fund of Struggle against Corruption was established on February 1 2004. It was set up to arouse public opinion to carry out resolute struggle against corruption, provide close participation of the public in this struggle and eliminate the problems, impeding moral and juridical education of people and development of society. The Fund of Struggle against Corruption bases on creative potential of our nation and accepts faithfulness and frankness as a way of struggle to reach the assumed aims, and reveal real corruption state in Azerbaijan society. The Fund aims at not concealing the existing state and not exaggerating lie. The Fund of Struggle against Corruption aims at reducing the corruption level with support and efforts of independent person, and decent citizens of the democratic state, along with activation of anticorruption mechanisms and resources.
 More than 20 Italian football teams have been informed that they are under investigation as part of an inquiry into match-fixing. The Italian football federation said 61 people, including 52 active players, will also have to answer questions over the allegations. More than 30 arrests have been made in investigations into match-fixing over the past year in Italy. Anti-Corruption Department under General Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the fact about the detention of the former deputy dean of faculty of law of the Baku State University, doctor of law, professor Mahammad Imanli. The department told that Imanli was detained while taking in a great amount of bribes. The former treasurer of Indonesia's governing Democratic Party has been convicted of corruption and sentenced to almost five years in prison. Muhammad Nazaruddin was accused of accepting bribes in connection with tenders for the South East Asian games, hosted by Indonesia last year. The deputy director of Balaken regional Center of Labor and Social Protection of Population was arrested during bribe taking. A resident of Balaken region called to the Department to Combat Corruption under General Prosecutor’s Office via hotline 161 and complained about illegal actions by the deputy director of Balaken regional Center of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population Aliyev Afgan Tahir.  The General Prosecutor’s office released statement about revealing the corruption crimes.Press service of the office told that the department on combating corruption investigated the facts sent by Baku Appeal Court concerning the illegal acts by the officials of Nasimi district Gas Exploitation Office. It was revealed that Azeriqaz Production Association filed a law suit against the Scientific Research Traumatic Surgery and Orthopedic Institute of Azerbaijan Ministry of Health and demanded to pay AZN 295 724 debt for gas supply.  Fund of Struggle against Corruption is starting the realization of a new project. Vasif Movsumov, executive director of the Fund informed about it. The aim of the projest is to define the changes in the direction of struggle against corruption after Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev's advice and instructions in this sphere. 5000 people will be surveyed within the frames of the project and the results will be available for the public. The Chief Prosecutor of the Kosovo anti-corruption agency Nazmi Mustafi has been arrested on suspicion of corruption. A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of the European Union’s Rule of Law Mission.According to the Kosovo newspaper "Zeri," Mustafa is suspected of extorting bribes in a case that his agency is investigating. In exchange for bribes the corruption “fighter” promised to stop the investigation.  A local authority official was detained over the fact of corruption in Azerbaijan, law-enforcement bodies.The representatives of the Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General’s Office carried out an operation at Mashtaga settlement local authorities under Sabunchu executive office of Baku. Representative of local authority Arzu Hajiyev was detained over bribery. Municipality officials were detained in Azerbaijan on corruption charges, law-enforcement. The chairman of Bina settlement’s municipality in Baku Babakhan Isayev and three other members of the municipality were detained by the officers of the Anti-Corruption Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office. Corruption will blow a quarter-trillion-euro hole in Germany's economy in 2012. The estimate, based on a study by Friedrich Schneider, economics professor at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria, topped the professor's own estimate of seven years ago, when corruption reached a low-point of ˆ220 billion. Italian police have arrested 16 judges in what they say is a big anti-mafia operation centred on Naples.They are alleged to have taken bribes to issue financial rulings in favour of the Camorra, the crime syndicate active around the southern city. The police said the focus of the operation was the Fabroccino clan, which is believed to have bribed officials to obtain favourable court judgements.  The person, who demanded bribe for allocation of the targeted social assistance, was caught red-handed in Azerbaijan, spokesman for Prosecutor General’s Office Eldar Sultanov told. Baku resident Garifulina Ruhiyye Tofig called 161 hotline of the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the illegal actions of Asadov Shahin Giyas, senior adviser of Garadagh region Center for Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population. Britain's Independent Commission for Aid Impact is calling on the British government to tighten oversight of its aid program for Afghanistan. It said there were insufficient monitoring systems in place to prevent "the loss or diversion of aid monies away from the intended beneficiaries as a result of theft, fraud or corruption." Conservative Party co-treasurer Peter Cruddas has resigned after being filmed apparently offering access to Prime Minister David Cameronand chancellor in return for donations of £250,000 a year. The Sunday Times claimed Mr Cruddas offered two international financiers the opportunity to lobby Mr Cameron directly on policy matters. Commission on combatting corruption in Azerbaijan published on its internet site project of Action Plan on Increasing Transparency and combatting corruption for the upcoming years on purpose of getting public responce and suggestions on its improvement. The document consists of 4 sections and some hundreds of concrete steps on improvement of legislative base, reforming socio-economical policy, activity of the structures specializing in the sphere of corruption. |
